Held yesterday July, 2nd in Rome, in the charming halls and beautiful cloister of the Hotel Donna Camilla Savelli, a morning rich with insights was organized by PharmacomItalia, with the goal of sharing concrete visions and inspiring new perspectives on the future of pharmaceutical logistics.
Following the General Assembly of Members, which renewed confidence in the Board of Directors, confirming the following appointments:
Fabrizio Iacobacci – Chairman
Paolo Acquafondata – Vice President
Gaetano Colella – Secretary General
Marco Del Giudice – Vice President
Elio Vari – Coordinator of the Technical Committee
the work focused on three key macro-themes: Technology, Environment, and Education.
With Gaetano Colella (PharmacomItalia) and Lucia Angeloni (Ministry of Transport, Editor-in-Chief of TIR Magazine), a discussion was opened on the state of the art of last mile distribution, exploring innovation, critical issues, and opportunities. The importance of regulatory alignment emerged clearly: 2026 is expected to be the year in which the Ministry of Health will adopt the European Commission’s Guidelines on Good Distribution Practices for medicines, thus aligning Italy with European standards.
Offering an international perspective was the intervention of Benoit Latteur, General Manager of EALTH (European Association for Logistics and Transportation in Healthcare), who emphasized the urgency of coordinated action among institutions, stakeholders, and industry players at the European level.
The second talk focused on the theme of green pharmaceutical distribution, with a sustainability approach that goes beyond environmental protection to include social and economic aspects, ensuring collective and lasting benefits.
Elio Vari (PharmacomItalia), Anna Rita Carta (ENI), and Francesco Cerasi (ENI-Versalis) presented new frontiers in chemistry, including low environmental impact fuels and innovative, sustainable packaging solutions.
The morning concluded with a strategic focus on education as a key driver for the sector’s development.
Paolo Acquafondata, Vice President of PharmacomItalia and Coordinator of the Training Academy, along with Paola Annigoni of UNI UNITRAIN, reiterated the urgency of developing skills and professional profiles aligned with the evolving needs of companies in the sector over the next five years—no small challenge in what Annigoni described as a “volatile” and highly dynamic context.
The event successfully connected skills, experiences, and visions, reinforcing the spirit of community and renewing the mission of PharmacomItalia: to lead change in pharmaceutical logistics.
